Where do you hangout out online? I have been asked by clients what social networks should they join to promote their business. What they should ask me is where do their customers and potential clients hangout. (By the way “promote their business” is a topic I will save for another day 
Each and every social network, forum and website has it’s own community of readers and contributors. A blanket myspace is dead ignores all of the users that are still on myspace that might be actually your audience. In recent years MySpace has been really trying to re-brand itself as the music site, especially evidenced by their recent purchase of Imeem. You can’t just join Mypace and start spamming people with your product. Your first step is to just hangout. Treat the entire community as people at a party. When you first get their you want to lay low and just “peep the scene”. Find out who the movers and the shakers are and what is culturally acceptable. More importantly when you meet people you can say that you have been hanging out there for a while and they can check. This helps build your credibility as someone who is “cool” and not a con or spammer.
